Identification and lookalikes
Adults are light brown with two dark lengthwise stripes on the shield behind the head. Nymphs are smaller and lack fully developed wings. Do not substitute photographs or facts about the Pennsylvania wood cockroach for this species.
Where infestations develop
Inspect kitchen and bathroom crevices, appliance areas and nearby plumbing. Finding nymphs as well as adults helps indicate indoor reproduction. Traps can show where activity is concentrated.
What to do next
Repair leaks, store food securely and remove crumbs and grease. Combine monitoring with a suitable integrated pest-management plan. Baits need correct placement and follow-up; avoid contaminating them with sprays.
