Identification and Appearance

Length 3 to 4 mm. Psammotettix is a large and difficult genus of very similar species. P confinis is a small hopper with cream and pale brown forewings, sometimes with spots and darker markings in the forewing cells. There are two small wavy dark marks at the vertex tip. Dissection of male genitalia is needed to confirm ID. other Psammotettix; Mocydia and Mocydiopsis Can only be identified by examination of internal genital structure. Common (ref.: UK Auchenorrhyncha checklist 2021 ) Occasional, but probably under-recorded due to ID difficulties
