Identification and Appearance
The width of shell of this species is 9 to 15 mm. The shell has a noticeable keel at the center of the periphery of the body whorl. Similar to Planorbis planorbis which has a keel along one side of the shell so that in profile it looks like it has been planed flat. Freshwater ponds, lakes and slow moving streams with muddy bottoms. Widespread in Britain though less common in the far north and the west.
